서울 중구 동대문 APM 골목에 자리한 마스큘린의 새로운 의류 매장이다. 낡은 상가와 오래된 간판이 겹친 골목에는 시선이 머물 곳이 없다. 이런 자리에서 매장을 드러내는 방법은 복잡함을 없애고 단아함을 보여주는 것이다.

전면은 하나의 매스로 세우고 표면은 거칠게, 색은 오프화이트로 낮췄다. 주변에 색과 글자가 많을수록 아무것도 쓰이지 않은 면이 먼저 보이게 된다. 캐노피 아래로만 빛을 흘려 밤에는 매스의 윤곽만 떠오르게 했다. 거친 외벽에는 부드러운 대리석 판을 걸고 MASCULINE feminine을 단아하게 새겼다. 입구 계단의 첫 단은 현무암의 거침으로 발끝에 닿는 질감을 다르게 바꿨다.

안으로 들어서면 대비가 뒤집힌다. 천장은 콘크리트 보를 그대로 두고 도장만 입혔고, 바닥은 UHPP로 이음매 없이 폈다. 기둥 하나는 거친 상태로 남겼고, 바로 옆 벽은 매끈한 도장으로 마감했다. 같은 색이 거침과 매끄러움으로 나뉘어 서로를 드러낸다.

브랜드의 무채색 감도를 드러내기 위해 공간은 오프화이트로 비웠다. 카운터 볼륨만 콘크리트 회색으로 무게를 잡고, 검정 소파를 낮게 두었다. 스테인리스 행거는 가늘게 세워 옷에 실루엣만 드러냈다.

마스큘린과의 작업은 2018년 매장에서 시작해 본사 오피스와 매장을 오가며 이번이 다섯 번째다. 브랜드가 자라는 동안 공간도 함께 정리되어 왔다.

MASCULINE SHOP is a 60.2㎡ fashion store in the APM district of Jung-gu, Seoul, completed in 2026 by Bananafish, a Seoul-based interior design studio. On a lane crowded with aging shopfronts and old signage, the facade was built as a single off-white mass with a deliberately coarse surface, lit only from beneath the canopy so that its outline reads at night. A smooth marble plate engraved MASCULINE feminine sits with quiet grace on the rough wall, and the first step at the entrance is finished in the roughness of basalt. Inside, the contrast reverses: exposed concrete beams above a seamless UHPP floor, one column left raw beside a smoothly painted wall, so that a single colour divides itself into rough and smooth. The space is emptied in off-white to carry the brand's achromatic tone, weighted only by a concrete-grey counter volume, a low black sofa and slender stainless rails that leave only the silhouette of the clothing. It is the fifth commission from MASCULINE since 2018.
